LIBRARY COMPETITIONS REPORT 2024

 

Report of the activity conducted by Library Outreach Society

Post Graduate Govt. College, Sector-46, Chandigarh

 The Library Outreach Society of Post Graduate Govt. College, Sector 46, Chandigarh organized Library Related Competitions (Essay Writing, Slogan Writing, Collage making and Book Cover Making) from 7th to 9th  February 2024 with the sole objective of connecting with the college students, making them library minded and to inculcate in them love and interest for reading of good books. 29 students participated. This activity was conducted for educating the college students in general and new admitted students in particular about the important role of library in widening their mental horizon.

Ø The topics for essay writing conducted on 7th February 2024 were:

1.     How library changed your life?

2.     Library and its uses.

3.     Role of library in education.

 

Ø                     Slogan Writing on  8th  February 2024

          Write a slogan of your choice on “Library”   

Ø Collage Making on 8th February 2024

     Make a collage of your choice on the theme:-

 

        1. Motivation to use libraries

        2. Read good books and to save library treasure

        3. Good Book Shelf / personal library at home.

The competition was Judged by Dr. Baljit Bamra and Dr. Leem Chand. The Judges congratulated the winners and praised their efforts.

Principal Dr. Abha Sudarshan congratulated the winners.  Library In -charge Mrs. Pratibha Pandey applauded the efforts of students.

NOTICE

LIBRARY RELATED COMPETITIONS-2024

The library department is organizing the under mentioned books/ library related competitions in  February 2024 with the sole objective of bringing the college students to the library, making them library minded and to inculcate love and interest for reading of good books.

The loose sheets for essay writing & drawing sheet for slogan, collage and book cover will have to be brought by the participants.

COMPETITIONS

 

1.     ESSAY WRITING ON 7th February 2024 at 10.00 A.M. in the college library.

 

The participants will be required to write an essay on any one of the topics given below. The topic will be decided by draw of lots in the presence of participants before the start of the test.

 

1.     How library changed your life?

2.     Library and its uses.

3.     Role of library in education.

 

Language: Hindi / English / Punjabi                Word limit –400

 

2.     SLOGAN WRITING ON 8th  February 2024 at 10.00 A.M. in the college library.

 

           Write a slogan of your choice on “Library”   

   

 

3.   COLLAGE MAKING ON 8th February 2024 AT 10.00 A.M. in the college library.

 

 

              Make a collage of your choice on the theme:-

 

          1.       Motivation to use libraries

          2.       Read good books and to save library treasure

          3.       Good Book Shelf / personal library at home.

 

4.   BOOK COVER MAKING CONTEST ON 9th  February 2024 at        10.00 A.M. in the college library.

 

·        Title/ cover (14x22cM) containing author & title with design of the book.

·        The page 2 (9x22 cm) inner left shall have a fold of 9 cm size which shall contain salient features of the book.

·        The third page (9x22) on inner right shall have a fold of 9cm size and shall contain the biographical sketch of the author.

·        The back / last page (14x22cm) shall contain title of the book and author’s name.
