Report of the activity conducted by Library Outreach Society

Post Graduate Govt. College, Sector-46, Chandigarh

 The Library Outreach Society of Post Graduate Govt. College, Sector 46, Chandigarh organized Library Related Competitions (Essay Writing, Slogan Writing, Collage making and Book Cover Making) from 20th to 22nd  February 2023 with the sole objective of connecting with the college students, making them library minded and to inculcate in them love and interest for reading of good books. 25 students participated. This activity was conducted for  educating the college students in general and new admitted students in particular about the important role of library in widening their mental horizon.

       The topics for essay writing conducted on 20th February 2023 were:

1.     How library changed your life?

2.     Library and its uses.

3.     Role of library in education

Slogan Writing on  21st  February 2023

          Write a slogan of your choice on “Library”   

            Collage Making on 22nd  February 2023

     Make a collage of your choice on the theme:-

            1.Motivation to use libraries

            2.Read good books and to save library treasure

            3.Good Book Shelf / personal library at home.

The competition was Judged by Dr. Baljit Bamra and Dr. Leem Chand. The Judges congratulated the winners and praised their efforts.

Principal Dr. Abha Sudarshan congratulated the winners.  Library In -charge Mrs. Pratibha Pandey applauded the efforts of students.

Inter college online Quiz Competition (World Book & Copyright Day 2022)

 




"Know Your Library" Book Exhibition held on 23.04.2022 on the occasion of World Book Day

 Report of “Know your library” book exhibition held on 23rd April, 2022 (World Book Day)

 

 

Library department has a healthy tradition of organizing “Know  Your Library” book exhibition every year.  The objective of this exhibition is to make the students aware of the library collection. This event was celebrated on the occasion of World Book Day celebrated on 23rd April 2022. This programme was aimed at educating the new students about the important role of library in widening their mental horizon and to tell them, that reading good books is must.

 

Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Abha Sudarshan inaugurated the book exhibition. She appreciated the efforts of the library staff.  She shared her life experience and said that the library is an asset of an institution. She advised the students to read as much books as they can during their stay in the college to succeed in life and make the best use of the college library in realizing their full potential.  More than 250 students attended the programme.

 

The students and faculty members of this college were happy to see the book exhibition and appreciated the efforts of the library staff.

College, Sector 46, Chandigarh organized Essay Writing Competition on March 8, 2022 (International Women's Day) with the sole objective of connecting with the college students, making them library-minded and to inculcate in them love and interest for reading of good books. 16 students participated. This activity was conducted for educating the college students in general and newly admitted students in particular about the important role of the library in widening their mental horizon. International Women's Day March 8, 2022 (Essay Writing Competition)

NOTICE

Every year Library department organizes various library related competitions with the sole objective to bring the college students to the library, making them library minded and to inculcate love and interest for reading of good books.

           This year the Library is organizing essay writing competition in offline mode on International Women's Day on March 8, 2022.

          The topics for essay writing are:

1. Importance of International Women's Day

2. Empowerment of Women

3. Role of Education in improving status of Women

 

Language: Hindi / English / Punjabi                 Word limit –500

Venue: Library                                          Timings: 11 am

 

     Students who are interested to take part in these competitions must give their names on the issue-return counter of the library.
